As parents, we’re always looking for a way to give our children unique, fun experiences that prepare them for the real world. At MyFirstSale, we believe every child needs to learn how to make and manage money. These three parents have watched their children grow in meaningful ways after doing the MyFirstSale Launch Your Business program. They have nothing but great things to say about it.
Jenny Clark
Jenny is a mom of five, and three of her boys have participated in the MyFirstSale program. Her oldest son Scout, who just turned 11, has a business called Scout for Adventurers. His goal is to help kids enjoy camping, biking, and adventuring in all kinds of ways. He and his mom worked together to create a pattern and source the fabric for his unique adventure bags. Scout even ended up sewing the bags himself with some assistance.
Jenny says, “Scout has learned so many real-world skills through the MyFirstSale program. He’s participated in different programs in the past, but this program is really great because he also has some learning disabilities. The way that the videos are presented is extremely accessible for him. It also walked him through each step of the process like thinking about the product, creating the product, putting it online, and then even shipping the product. The real world skills that MyFirstSale offers to kids are invaluable.”
One of the biggest things Scout learned was that it’s okay to fail or change your mind. He realized that there was a lot of work involved in the product that he chose to design, create, and sell. After selling out of that product, he decided that he wanted to try something different. He felt supported and encouraged to sell a new product.
Jenny shares, “We love the MyFirstSale program. We can’t recommend it to other families highly enough. If you’re thinking about giving your kids real-world skills that they can use no matter what, then MyFirstSale is a great program for you and your family.”
Lance Manywounds
Lance is a dad whose kids have always been into entrepreneurship and building their own businesses. He was originally concerned that the MyFirstSale program would be too time-consuming for their family, but he was pleasantly surprised at how quick the program was.
He says, “MyFirstSale was a great experience. It was not even close to the amount of work I thought we were going to have to put in. Thank God. It was only about 30-45 minutes a day for three weeks.”
The best part was how easy it was to set up…and how much money the kids made. So far, they’ve made a few hundred dollars. Lance loves that they didn’t have to go out and knock on doors, but were able to promote their shop through friends and family as well as social media.
Lance shares, “I highly recommend this to anybody who’s interested in teaching their kids about entrepreneurship and the values that go along with that.”
Stacey Barrett
Stacey is a mom of 4, and her kids have been involved in children’s business fairs for several years. Her daughter started when she was just 5 years old.
Stacey says, “My kids have learned a lot about economics and all kinds of great things. And they’ve made tons of money. They loved launching their own businesses.”
Her kid entrepreneurs have done all kinds of different businesses, including selling bracelets, duct tape wallets, and water bottles. MyFirstSale gave them the tools they need to focus on the strengths of their products in order to create a great sales pitch.
Stacey shares, “My kids are really so much more confident. The business fairs have really done a great job in giving them the skills and confidence to sell anything. We love the children’s business fair.”
